Kami Becomes a Zombie

One of the ideas I put forth to someone who was really looking forward to the Zombie Apocalypse was how sucky it would be if you ended up being one of the zombies.  Now that's no fun at all.

That became my fate after OryCon, although I don't think this is the start of the Apocalypse and hopefully my case is reversible.

I slogged through work today.  I had to keep moving because I was literally falling asleep while standing up.  But I had a nice laugh at the expense of a customer.  She seemed nice, really, and I wish her the best.  I doubt she realized the humor in her words, though.  Her mother explained to me on the sly that she'd recently divorced a real creep recently and had moved back home.  Then, separately, the girl told me that she graduated from high school in 2003.  She'd gotten a membership card before she married, she thought.  I hunted through records and pestered three stores before admitting defeat.
"I can give you a membership as a courtesy," I told her.
"Oh no!  I can pay the five dollars."
"You can always wait, hunt through your things.  Maybe your card will turn up."
This very young, very pretty woman-girl who was already divorced four years after graduating from high school smiled and said, "I doubt it will.  I'm good at getting rid of things."

Yes, my dear, apparently you are.

Shuffling right along while moaning, I have the Mighty Transfer to look forward to.  I'll probably spend some time on it tonight, but mostly I plan on sleeping and then finishing up as much as I can tomorrow.

Which means it's time to stare blankly a moment, realize there are no brains directly in front of me, turn, and shuffle, moaning, in a new direction.

Are you familiar with the Johnathan Coulton song "Re: Your Brains"?

Here's a YouTube video for it.

I love it! Because I have dial up I couldn't watch it through but I got to listen to the first thirty seconds or so (very broken up) to get the tune and I read the lyrics. Now I have to visit someone with something other than dial up and check it out.

I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering if you had to work. Hopefully you have some time off this week to recup before Thanksgiving!

Today is my only day to recuperate prior to Thanksgiving in Redmond (the Bend area, not the WA one) with the in-laws. I had to go lube the Corolla and I have a ton of housework to catch up on, so it's not a restful day. On the other hand, I sleep easier knowing things are done and in order.

My challenge 'o the day--loading a Word update. It's utterly ridiculous the time it takes, and if I'm not babysitting Jasmine he hops off line. I'm not sure what the issue is with that. Gypsy will stay on all day long so long as there's activity. Jasmine is supposed to, but apparently downloading big files isn't considered activity. Grr!

Gack! That would be frustrating. Too bad you don't have the time to hop down here and pigback my cable connection. I bet it would be done in minutes rather than hours that way. Anyway, the offers here if you want to try.

Have a great thanksgiving and safe travels!

Thanks! I got it to load with the help of some relief babysitters. Just as it got close to the end, though, I took a bad step off the stairs (last step, thank goodness or I could have taken a bad fall) and sprained my ankle. It's tender today but I can put enough weight on it to limp, unlike yesterday when I had to hop around with one foot, use crutches and I even got carried upstairs by my loving husband.

I'm feeling terribly clumsy, what with me breaking my toe this last summer. Ugh! It'll be a fun day at work today.
